Assembly & Test Technician III (Electro-Mechanics)

Position Profile:

As a Technician on our production team, you are responsible for assembly, test and repair of electro-mechanical control systems for critical applications in the Aerospace and Defense market.

Working at our state-of-the-art heated and air-conditioned manufacturing facility in Montville, NJ, you'll collaborate with our cross-functional production and engineering team to achieve quality and on-time delivery goals. By completing our optional on-site solder training program, you'll enhance your skill set and position yourself for broader opportunities.

The technician primary responsibility is to set up and operate all phases of processing mechanical and electromechanical actuation systems for various aerospace and defense platforms. This position is also responsible for the assembly and test of production hardware and their sub assemblies by following schematics and other written and/or verbal specifications, as well as the troubleshooting of problems that arise and subsequent reworking of units. The Technician will also be actively involved in related hardware activity before presentation to Final Inspection.

Requirements:

* Minimum of a High School Diploma, or equivalent

* 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/testing environment

* Will consider applicants with lesser experience that possess a more recent A.A.S. degree in Electronic Engineering Technology

* CCA testing and Debugging experience is a MUST

* Electro-mechanical products measurement and testing experience required

* Demonstrated technical aptitude and abilities to functionally test products

* Knowledge/experience with variety of electronic test equipment

* Knowledge of Lean concepts, ESD, FOD control and personal protective equipment

* Effective verbal/written communication skills required for interacting with all levels of personnel within the organization

* Computer literate, with MS Office experience and basic PC skills

* Must be a US Citizen

Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:

* Primary duty is to ensure that products perform their proposed functions in a satisfactory manner

* Read, interpret documents (i.e. procedures, schematics/technical drawings, etc.) and use necessary measuring devices/equipment to confirm tooling/fixturing geometries and dimensions

* Conduct all work in accordance with approved technical data, customer specifications and regulatory requirements including mil-specs

* Set up and use electronic instruments, load testing devices, microscopes, various measuring instruments

* Setup and operate tools required for assembly including, but not limited to; standard hand tools, load testing devices, micrometers, depth mics, calipers and microscopes

* Setup and operate equipment required for testing including, but not limited to; multimeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, pressure, gauges and transducers, data recorders, load cells, and flow meters

* Assist with testing equipment maintenance and/or repair

* Maintain accurate parts and part count for each job

* Identify causes for test failures, perform rework, and submit suggestions for corrective action to supervisor for approval

* Seek, document, and support Lean ideas to improve the efficiencies of the company

* Maintain all hand tools in clean working condition

* Notify supervisor of any equipment that requires repair

* Properly handle and dispose of chemicals used, utilizing proper PPE (as required)

* Identify any routings discrepancy and notify supervisor so changes can be made if necessary

Work Environment:

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise (air hose, etc.), and vibration

* This position may entail exposure to abrasive chemicals

* This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).

* Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.

* This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 10 hours, Monday through Thursday. Overtime and weekend may be required as job duties demand.

* Some travel may be required for this position (5-10%)

Physical Requirements:

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

* The employee is frequently required to repetitively use/reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

* The employee is regularly required to stand at length, sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.

* The employee may be required to lift, stack, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 45 pounds

Attractive Work Schedule: 4-Day Work Week - Monday-Thursday (6:00AM-4:30PM)

This position is at our Montville, NJ corporate offices location.
