The Assembly V position located in Wolcott, IN reports to our Plant Manager. Those in this job description often have sole ownership of orders for low volume, highly variable, mechanical pressure and temperature switches within the Mercoid product line. Responsible for all associated manufacturing processes and sequences including: fabrication of thermal and pressure assemblies/systems, assembly, calibration, testing, labeling and packing of orders. Requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude and significant product knowledge and experience. The fabrication skills can include soldering, brazing and the filling of closed pressure/temperature systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine order specifications. May require reference to prints, other information or engineering instructions to assure exact requirements to meet test and customer needs.
- Identify material requirements and assure that all materials and parts are available or secure any missing items from the warehouse.
- Braze or solder bellows, bourdon tubes, thermal system / capillary assembly, thermowells. Work with the welding department as needed for welded joints. Fabrication can include the use of tubing cutters, Oxygen / Acetylene torches, induction heating units,
- Fill thermal system. Properly seal, test for leaks and ensure proper function. Adjust calibration as needed. This filling process can require the handling of highly volatile fill materials in an explosion proof work station.
- Assemble seals, control units and/or subassemblies, glands, diaphragms, filling materials and complete assembly, calibration and testing of units as specified.
- Segregate defective parts for Supervisor or Leader action.
- Record information for each specific bulb and capillary completed and other information following established procedures.
- Clean up work areas and follow prescribed safety and handling procedures for various fluids, materials and equipment involved.

RequirementsRequired Skills / Experience / Equipment Operation:
- Must Possess ALL Assembly IV Skills, Experience and Requirements, in addition to the fabrication skills required to produce the pressure and temperature systems.
- Requires 3 to 5 years to attain proficiency on the fabrication, assembly, filling and calibration assignments.
- Some materials, though in small quantities, are toxic and must be handled carefully following established safety practices.
