Job Title: Assignment ClerkDepartment: Assignment CommissionCommon Pleas CourtHours: 35 hours per weekPay: Based on experience POSITION PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this job is to accurately assign hearing/trial dates to Judges' dockets, issue notices to the applicable parties of cases and update computer accordingly on an ongoing basis. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The duties listed below are in no way a limitation to the possible job duties the Assignment Clerk will be required to perform. The Judges of the Common Pleas Court and/or the Court Administrator may assign tasks which are not listed in the job duties section to employees under their direct or indirect supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Maintain Judges' dockets/calendars through consultation with Judges' staff on an ongoing basis2. Assign hearing/trial dates 3. Issue notices of hearings/trials to appropriate attorneys and parties4. Provide Judges, staff, parties and attorneys with full and accurate scheduling information 5. Manage the Court's docket through the case management computer program 6. Update staff as to changes in schedules/dockets/calendars7. Maintain confidentiality of Judges' personal schedules8. Perform Bailiff duties for the Magistrate's courtroom 2 days a week9. Perform Bailiff duties as a backup for Judges' courtroom when needed10. Cross-train and provide backup assistance to the Jury Commissioner and Magistrate's Office11. Schedule Judgment Debtor exams from the Magistrate's Calendar12. Schedule Replevin Hearings, Civil Stalking Protection Orders on Magistrate's Docket13. Schedule Civil and Foreclosure Mediations with Attorneys from the Mediation calendar14. Review and verify applications for appointed counsel fees for approval of payment15. Communicate with Probation Department regarding community control violation hearings16. Schedule bond hearings on a daily basis through communication with Jail personnel and Judges' staff17. Assist public and attorneys at counter daily as needed18. Generate and distribute monthly calendar as to the schedule for Arraignments, Grand Jury, and Criminal Pre-trials19. Research returned mail addresses; investigate accurate new addressesNON ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Other duties as assigned2. Answer telephones and prioritize phone calls3. Maintain professional, courteous and effective communication4. Daily mailings and filing with the Clerk's OfficeEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:1. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalentSPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Ability and Skill):Knowledge: Must have an understanding of Microsoft word and excel.Ability: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have superior communication skills. Skill: 1. Must be able to operate office equipment, such as a computer, telephone, copier and fax machine.2. Must have ability to communicate with people with variety of backgrounds, ages, circumstances, etc - in person and in groups3. Must have strong customer service skills, multi-tasking, and be able to work well in a team environment4. Must be able to work independently and with little direction or instruction.PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.2.
