POSITION TITLE: Assist/Assoc Prof of Special Education: Deaf and Hard of Hearing, TenureTrackCOMPENSATION RANGE: 57,922.00 - 69,347.00 USD per yearEMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: FacultyDEPARTMENT: Schl of Special Education OfficeTARGET HIRE DATE: 8/1/2025BENEFITS: UNC's Career HubTo ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on 10/01/2024.Position Summary:The School of Special Education in the Collegeof Education and Behavioral Sciencesat the University of Northern Colorado is seeking a Tenure Track or a contract renewable (CR) Assistant Professor ofSpecial Education with expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing.The Special Education Deaf and hard ofhearing program is a comprehensive program that providesfor the initial preparation of special educators and leads to a Master's Degree and/or Doctoral degree. Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to maintain scholarly activities, teach courses in Special Education:Deaf/Hard of Hearing and the Doctoral program, and engage in school, college,university, and national service. Also associated with the positionis an expectation to collaborate with other departments in the College ofEducation and Behavioral Sciences andthe Colorado Department of Education. The tenure trackposition is an on-campus position. The contract renewable position may be aremote position with approval depending on where the candidate is located.Minimum Qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate in Special Education or related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in scholarship
  • Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in university level teaching
  • Three years minimum successful teaching in P-12 educational settings with Deaf/hard of hearing children and youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching graduate students in online distance modalities.
  • Intermediate ability to communicate in American Sign Language
  • Evidence of a comprehensive DHH teaching philosophy
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and colleagues with broadly diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds in educational, research or other work activities.
