Department Description:

With nearly 80,000 alumni living in every state and over 100 countries, the Office of Alumni Relations creates programming, communication, and networking/engagement opportunities for alumni and friends locally, nationally, and around the world. Alumni Relations, a department within the division of University Advancement and headquartered in the Degheri Alumni Center, coordinates engagement and scholarship fundraising for many alumni affinity groups, including Black, Latino, and Native alumni networks, Ministry Search Retreat alumni, and PRIDE alumni, among others. Signature events include the annual USD Wine Classic fundraiser supporting student scholarships, Alumni Honors, and Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Detailed Description:

The assistant/associate director for regional programs is responsible for engaging and cultivating alumni, current parents, and other USD constituents with programs and communications utilizing the Torero Network and specifically, Torero Clubs. This position is charged with building and fostering the engagement lifecycle of USD's constituents in major markets throughout the country. The assistant/associate director develops targeted programs and events for populations of regionally-segmented alumni, parents, and other USD supporters, consistently evaluating and improving programming for maximum engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with other Alumni Relations and Parent and Family Relations staff members, integrate alumni, current parents, athletic boosters, and other USD constituents into Torero Clubs and through other regional engagement opportunities.
  • Build a broader community of USD constituents to enhance networking opportunities, spirit-building, and philanthropic support.
  • Enhance current programs and develop new programs in conjunction with other staff, alumni and parent volunteers, faculty, and students.
  • Work with Career Development, Student Life, Admissions, Athletics, academic units, and other departments to identify internship, networking, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Build and manage programs to engage and cultivate alumni in areas outside of our Torero Clubs.
  • Collect data on regional programs, and analyze/strategize for greater alumni engagement scores.
  • In partnership with the director of alumni operations and engagement, oversee the Regional Programs' budget expenditures and revenue goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of 25-50 donors and assigned prospects.
  • Achieve fundraising goals established by the director, senior director of Alumni Relations, and AVP for Development.

Job Requirements:

  • At least three to five years of professional level experience in relevant fields.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must be friendly and personable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • USD alumnus/a preferred.
  • Knowledge of Publisher or another desktop publishing program.
