The Assistant/Associate Engineer will be responsible for implementing projects and initiatives from CCWD's capital improvement program, which may include: treated water distribution pipeline replacements; improvements to treated and untreated water, systems and water treatment plants; and Los Vaqueros Watershed facilities. This appointment can be made at either the assistant or associate level, depending on the successful applicants' qualifications. This position will be located at our Administrative Office on Concord, CA. What you will typically be responsible for:
  • Being an integral member of the Engineering Department working on improvements to the treated and untreated water storage and conveyance systems, water treatment plants, dams, and other facilities.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performing project management duties of assigned projects, identifying critical path elements, and priority tasks.
  • Assessing and managing risks to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Being a technical resource throughout CCWD.
  • Administering consultant contracts and coordinating consultant work with project stakeholders

A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Training: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering or a related field. Experience: Two (2) years of professional engineering experience.Licenses and Certifications:

  • Assistant Engineer: Possession of a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training issued by the State of California to be maintained throughout employment.
