Program Director and Open Rank Professor - Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program
The School of Health Professions at LIU Post invites qualified applicants to apply for the leadership position of Program Director of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. The school seeks an experienced, collaborative, innovative leader to lead the Psy.D. program.
The Psy.D. Program is a fully APA-Accredited Doctoral Program that follows the practitioner-scholar model. We are a dual theoretical orientation program. The program is particularly interested in applicants with expertise in psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and personality assessment.
The PsyD Program seeks a dynamic, energetic leader who can eIectively engage faculty, staI, students, and external constituencies in a collegial and collaborative manner. The program director should have a strong record of excellence in academic leadership, teaching, and scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed research and grant writing, and show enthusiasm to continue growing the academic, research, and clinical training aspects of the Psy.D. program. The Program Director should also demonstrate commitment to diversity, free speech, and the open and respectful exchange of ideas and encourage and facilitate faculty development.
Principal Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities including clinical supervision and dissertation mentoring with release time for administrative duties.
* Assessing existing curriculum and programs.
* Overseeing the staIing of sections, including selecting and assigning adjunct faculty.
* Overseeing the program's financial and workload budgets.
* Leading and supporting faculty eIorts around research, especially around applying for and securing extramural funding.
* Leading the accreditation process, which includes annual reports, and periodic self-studies, and site visits.
* Academic advisement and engagement in program's activities and events.
* Oversight of the annual admissions process.
* Oversight of the Psychological Services Center, the training clinic associated with the Clinical PsyD program.
Qualifications
* The Program Director must hold a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
* Five or more years of previous academic teaching.
* Five or more years of leadership/administrative experience are required.
* Licensed/license eligible as a psychologist in NY State
