The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University has proudly maintained accreditation by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) since 1979. The Accounting accreditation has been in place since 1986. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation occurred in 2021. The leadership team for the Deese College includes the Dean, Associate Dean of Research and Operations, the Assistant Dean of Student Success & Programming, the Assistant Dean/MBA Director, the MACC Director, the Director of the Transportation Institute, five academic Chairpersons, about 14 administrative services staff and 2 technical services staff.

The University is on a journey to become a Research 1 (R1) institution. The faculty member will be responsible for continuously publishing in high-quality peer reviewed journals while developing and delivering high-quality course content in economics at the undergraduate and MBA levels both on campus and online. In addition to carrying out impactful teaching and research, faculty members are expected to actively engage in service to the Department, College, University, community, and profession. Faculty is expected to engage with external partners and support grant and external funding opportunities.

This is a 9-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The faculty member will be responsible for developing and delivering course content in finance with a preference for expertise in investments and related subjects. The faculty member should have experience teaching first-generation and diverse students. The successful candidate will also support the department's student managed investment fund and student competition teams. Industry and professional experiences are desired.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The College of Business and Economics has a faculty of over 75 (65 tenured and tenure-track) teach in the Departments of Accounting and Finance, Business Information Systems and Analytics, Economics, Management, and Marketing and Supply Chain Management. Faculty are tasked with providing quality teaching and learning supported by relevant research and service. The student body consists of approximately 1,950 undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate degrees are awarded in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Business Information Technology, Economics, Finance, Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain Management. The graduate degrees offered are the MBA and Master of Accountancy degrees.

The Department of Accounting and Finance currently enrolls over 315 students and offers two undergraduate degrees, a B.S. in Accounting and a B.S. in Finance, as well as a minor in Accounting and a minor in Finance. The Department also offers a Master of Accountancy degree and an accounting concentration in the College's MBA program. All business programs in the Deese College have been accredited by AACSB International since 1979, and the Accounting program has held separate AACSB International accreditation since 1986. The Department currently has over 25 faculty, and over 15 tenure track faculty, all of whom hold terminal degrees and 12 of whom maintain active professional certifications.

Minimum Requirements

The position requires an earned doctorate from an AACSB International accredited institution and professional accomplishments appropriate for the level of appointment.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

The best candidates will have expertise in finance and technology (FINTECH), financial planning, or real estate, at least two years of experience, and qualifications appropriate for an appointment to the faculty at the applicable level. Candidates most likely to be successful will have a proven record of academic research, maintain a professional certification, and an active record of professional engagement. Successful candidates will have experience teaching first-generation and/or minority students.

Professional Certification is preferred but not required.
