Job Description

The faculty member will be expected to participate in a multi-disciplinary research environment that contributes to professional development and involves graduate and undergraduate students. Courses to teach include some combination of the following: Hematology, Clinical chemistry and microbiology, Blood-bank, Urinalysis, and Laboratory Management and other undergraduate or graduate level courses in area of expertise. The successful applicant will also be the program director for both the MLS and HT programs. Advising and committee participation are expected. Faculty will be required to document the following for annual evaluation: ability to teach effectively, conduct scholarly research, continued preparation and study in discipline, contribution to student growth and developments, and service to the university and community.

Instruct courses in varied locations and at varied times, in-person, online or hybrid and in either a semester or accelerated semester schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

* MS or ABD or higher in Biology or related discipline

* Medical laboratory scientist/clinical laboratory scientist/medical technologist who holds a nationally recognized generalist certification

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical laboratory science education that includes teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.

* Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualification

* DCLS or Ph.D. or equivalent in Biology or related discipline

* Evidence of recent (within 5 years) employment as a Medical Laboratory Scientist

* Evidence of scholarship through research and publication

* Experience in administration of accredited clinical laboratory programs

* Experience mentoring students including underrepresented groups in STEM fields
