The Chemistry Department welcomes applications in any area spanning organic chemistry.The Chemistry Department offers undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry (with ACS accreditation), as well as Forensic Science. A typical teaching load alternates between 2 and 3 courses per semester. The Chemistry Department serves only undergraduate students, with small class sizes (10-20) for junior and senior majors. DESCRIPTION: The candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching organic chemistry lecture and lab
- Teaching other upper-level courses in their area of expertise
- Establishing a vibrant research program centered on undergraduates
- Seeking external grant funding; intra- and extra-mural research collaborations are strongly encouraged
- Providing service to the department, college, and university
- Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students. Experience advising and mentoring undergraduate students and individuals from groups underrepresented in STEM fields is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- PhD in organic chemistry or related field required by time of employment.
- Potential to establish a successful research program involving undergraduate students.
- Experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses
- Recent peer-reviewed publications
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment
