Position Summary:The University of NorthernColorado School of Teacher Education invites applications for the position ofAssistant/Associate Professor of Teacher Education, Elementary Social Studiesand Educational Foundations to begin Fall 2025. This is a full-time, contractrenewable position. The successful candidate will teach on-campus undergraduatecourses in elementary social studies methods and educational foundations. Theywill also have the possibility of teaching online and on-campus graduatecourses in both elementary social studies methods and curriculum studies andfoundations. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will facilitatethe scheduling of EDF 290 and EDF 500, the undergraduate and graduatefoundations courses, including hiring and overseeing adjuncts, revising thecourse curriculum, and ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements. Theywill also engage in curriculum revision for EDEL 425 Elementary School SocialStudies methods. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. - PhD, EdD (ABD acceptable if completed prior to start date) curriculum and instruction, educational foundations, social studies education, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years K-12 classroom teaching experience.
- Knowledge of educational foundations and expertise in one of the following: psychological, sociological, political, multicultural, or historical foundations, as demonstrated through coursework, teaching, or other experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with teacher candidates in a higher education setting.
- Experience or desire to contribute to curriculum revision for teacher licensure courses.
- Experience teaching elementary Social Studies and/or principles of educating for responsible global citizenship in a K-6 classroom.
- Understanding/Knowledge of Colorado state Social Studies standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
