Department

Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Sciences in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences

Responsibilities

* Maintain a nationally and internationally recognized, extramurally funded research program in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, and related areas such as women's health, mitochondrial biology/function, immunology, and metabolism.

* Recruit, mentor, and guide graduate students through their academic and research endeavors, fostering their professional growth.

* Conduct high-impact research that reinforces and expands current departmental strengths in skeletal muscle biology, cardiovascular health, gut microbiome, neuroscience, and immunity.

* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to expand the scope and reach of the department's research initiatives.

* Secure external funding to support ongoing and new research projects, contributing to the department's overall productivity.

* Contribute to the department's teaching efforts at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, designing and delivering courses aligned with your area of expertise.

* Develop innovative curricula and strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

* Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work, and engage in professional outreach activities.

* Engage in community and public outreach that promotes health, nutrition, and exercise science education.

Qualifications

* Ph.D. in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.

* Demonstrated success in teaching, research, and service commensurate with rank (Assistant or Associate Professor).

* Record of extramural funding to support research initiatives (Associate Professor) or evidence for the likelihood of obtaining extramural support (Assistant Professor).

* Strong scholarly productivity with peer-reviewed publications.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

* Priority will be given to those with established or emerging expertise and leadership in research related to women's health, mitochondrial biology/function, immunology, or metabolism.

* Appropriate Postdoctoral Training.

* Proven success with securing external research funding.

* Federally funded research program.

* Experience with interdisciplinary research teams or collaborations.

* Registered Dietitian (RD) credential (for nutrition positions)

* Evidence of effective teaching.
