POSITION PURPOSE: We are seeking a hospitality focused and organized individual to join our team as an Assistant Baker. The Assistant Baker supports the baking team by preparing ingredients, assisting with baking processes, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Thisrole requires attention to detail, an understanding of baking techniques, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: - Assist the team in preparing and baking a variety of pastries, breads, and other baked goods.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Operate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure products are baked to perfection.
- Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, and icings.
- Roll, cut, and shape dough for cookies, pies, cakes, and other baked goods.
- Assist in decorating pastries and cakes.
- Ensure all baked goods meet quality and presentation standards.
- Assist in conducting taste tests and adjusting recipes as necessary.
- Check products for consistency, texture, and taste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and baking areas.
- Wash and sanitize baking equipment, utensils, and workstations.
- Ensure ingredients and supplies are properly stored and labeled.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and notifying the Head Baker when supplies are low.
- Help receive and check deliveries of ingredients and supplies.
- Follow all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing and gear.
- Maintain knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
- Occasionally assist with customer inquiries and orders.
- Package baked goods for sale or delivery.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPIERENCE AND SKILLS - Formal training in baking or pastry arts preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial baking equipment.
- Creative skills for decorating cakes and pastries.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION: - Previous experience in a bakery or culinary environment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of baking techniques and principles.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
