Location: Melville,NY, USA
Our gourmet bakery located in Melville is seeking an Assistant Bakery Manager for its busy department. High volume baking experienced and an eye for detail is required for this position. Our Assistant Bakery Managers support our Bakery Managers, supervise our baking staff and help manage all bakery operations.
Responsibilities
* Will assist the Bakery Manager with the daily operations of our Bakery Department
* Along with our baking team, this individual will be responsible for baking our gourmet items including cakes, cookies, tarts, muffins, special orders, etc.
* Will lead by example, providing excellent customer service to all of our customers, which includes counter, in person orders and online orders
* Supporting our Bakery team with our food safety and sanitation standards.
* Training and hiring - This position is responsible for assisting with the hiring and training process for the Bakery Department, with guidance from the Bakery Manager
* Maintain our standard of service and production during the high volume holidays
* Inspect Bakery items to ensure that the display meets our standards, quality, uniformity and showcase appeal
* Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner
Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent; Pastry Chef training is a plus
* Must have 3+ years of experience working in a Bakery with at least 2 of those years in a management position
* Must have A food handler's license
* In depth knowledge of Bakery operations with experience hiring, training and scheduling employees
* The ability to work under pressure during the very busy holidays
* Must be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language
* Individual must have great communication skills with the drive to provide great customer service

Working Conditions
* Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
* May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
* Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
* There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
