Under general direction the person in this position must work independently, representing the college to students, guidance counselors, parents, and families. The Assistant Coach is responsible for preparing an athletic team for a season of excellence, as directed by the head coach, Athletic Director, and Vice President for Students. The position will also instructor or recruit as needed.
Assist with the day-to-day administrative and coaching duties under the direction of the head coach.
2. The Assistant Coach will assume responsibility for the team in the absence of the head coach, as required.
3. Assist in the recruitment of qualified student-athletes that will represent the College in a positive and competitive manner.
4. Ensure that coaches, staff, and student-athletes conduct themselves in a matter that reflects positively on the team and the College, and that prioritizes academics over athletics.
5. Instruct classes or participate in college recruiting, as assigned.
6. In order to perform these essential functions, the Assistant Coach must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential job function.
1. One year of formal coaching experience at the high school or college level preferred.
2. Pitching Coach experience required.
3. Verbal skills to deliver persuasive presentations to current and prospective students and stakeholders, writing skills to communicate effectively and professionally.
4. Ability to work nonstandard hours in a variety of environments required.
5. Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, required.
6. Technology skills to utilize computers, software programs, enrollment and/or learning management systems, and social media, required.
7. Ability to teach and/or recruit, as assigned, required.
8. Must be able to attend all home events and travel when required.
