Salary: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of supervisor, assists with the development and implementation of behavior support and/or academic/residential goal plans using current and ethical practices of positive behavior support.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assists behavior specialists with all aspects of daily service delivery and behavior based projects or research including assessment, intervention, and data preparation and analysis
* Participates in the process for conducting functional assessments of behaviors using a variety of means, including reliable and valid assessment tools when indicated.
* Assists with the development and implementation of behavior support plans and/or goals using current and ethical practices of positive behavior support. This may include collecting and/or reviewing data, assessing reliability, validity, and effectiveness of the plan, training staff members, and supporting staff members in a hands-on capacity. Requires the ability to meet deadlines, take and follow direction, manage paperwork and use basic math skills to assess data.
* Provides direct care to students in the classroom or residential setting with the purpose of modeling behavioral programming for staff members.
* Responds to Crisis calls on main campus
* Conducts regular and formal behavior observations across environments. This includes the actual observation, staff interviews, and documentation of progress and observations in clinical notes.
* Assists in dealing with behavioral/psychiatric emergencies including physical intervention and providing direction to staff members
* Receives clinical supervision/consultation from behavior specialists and doctoral level consultants
* Attends and participates in team meetings as needed.
* Assists with new employee orientation as needed
* Serves as a resource to staff members for information on issues pertaining to psychology (such as diagnosis, test interpretation, treatments, teaching techniques, therapies, etc.) within their competency and expertise.
* Attends and participates in professional development such as conferences or continuing education as assigned.
* Adheres to ethical standards for behavior analysts and mental health professionals
* Assists with the preparation of data collection tools, picture symbols, visual aids, or other materials as related to behavior support plans or student programming.
* Fulfills any other requirements/responsibilities as delegated by supervisor
* All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
* Must be enrolled in Associates or Bachelor's program in related field within six months of hire; Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field from an accredited program preferred; BCaBA certification or BCBA/LBA in progress preferred. Prefer experience developing and/or implementing behavioral interventions for persons with developmental disabilities and/or at least one year of direct care for persons with developmental disabilities. Registered Behavior Technicians enrolled in degree program will be considered.
* Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
* Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
* Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
* Be able to perform all physical interventions.
