The Opportunity: The Kiski School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. This position involves working closely with the Head Coach and student-athletes to foster skill development, teamwork, and a positive experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for, and deep knowledge of, basketball, as well as a commitment to developing student-athletes, and the ability to work effectively in a school environment.The Kiski School is a nationally recognized prep school located in Saltsburg, PA. The school's basketball program plays a nationally competitive schedule and has produced 15 players that have matriculated to the Division I, II, and III levels over the past five years.This is a seasonal position, running from Late October to Early March. The schedule will include weekday practices, weekend games, and potential holiday tournaments.Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include: Assist with planning and conducting daily practices, ensuring a focus on team development and individual player improvement. Provide guidance and support during games, helping with strategic adjustments, player rotations, and in-game decision-making. Support the transportation of student-athletes to away games, ensuring safety and punctuality. Work on individual player skill development, offering one-on-one coaching in areas like shooting, dribbling, and defense. Participate in film breakdown and analysis to help prepare the team for opponents and improve overall performance. Help maintain equipment, uniforms, and ensure the general readiness of the team. Foster a positive and supportive environment, building strong relationships with athletes and promoting good sportsmanship and respect at all times.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required) Must successfully pass a background check, as well as possess a valid driver's license with the ability to transport student-athletes to games Strong communication skills with the ability to relate to and motivate high school athletes Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel for games Previous coaching or playing experience at the high school or college level Commitment to supporting the values and mission of The Kiski SchoolApplication Process & Timeline:Candidates should submit a current resume and a cover letter explaining their interest and qualifications.
