EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience with building systems and building maintenance
Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD'svehicle safety and use program
Position Function/Purpose
The Head Building Engineer shall oversee the operation of the building equipment so that it will satisfy the needs of the building occupants and will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all the building systems i.e. MEP, EMS, etc. in addition to assignment of duties for the assistant building engineer.
Essential Functions
1. Be responsible for the building's mechanical, electrical, ems, hvac and plumbing components
2. Ability to process paperwork related to work orders, invoices, and other
correspondence
3. Evaluate all mechanical equipment in the building for a determination of repair and/or
replacement
4. Conduct regular inspections of the building operating systems and make any needed repairs
5. Communicate with the F.C.C.S. Supervisor and PM Foreman informed daily on all projects and problems
6. Communicate with the Administrator-in-charge of the building on scheduling of any
work that may affect the daily operation of classes or cause discomfort
7. Grease and lubricate all motors at their scheduled intervals and perform other
preventive maintenance duties as assigned to maintain equipment
8. Working knowledge and hands-on experience in the operation of low pressure steam
boilers (Fritzgibbons, Kewanee, Williams-Davis, etc.), and hot water boilers (Weben-
Jarco, Wein McLain, Peerless, etc.)
9. Working knowledge and hands-on experience in the operation of direct-expansion
air-conditioning units, package units, split systems, reciprocating chillers, and
Centrifugal chillers (Trane, Carrier, Lennox, McQuay, etc.). General knowledge of
cooling towers and circulating pumps
10. Other duties as assigned by the F.C.C.S. Supervisor, PM Foreman, Head Building Engineer or Executive Director of School Plant Services
Qualification Requirements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
1. Experience in the operation of air-conditioning and heating equipment
2. Familiarity in the use of chemical treatment for closed loop circulating systems
3. Familiarity with the rules and regulations set forth by local city codes, and building
codes
4. Ability to operate a commercial vehicle
