Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree and two (2) years of directly related full time professional experience in facilities management or a related field may be considered. Two (2) years of directly related full time professional experience in facilities management. Experience with structural trades and/or building operations. Supervisory experience. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including creating Excel spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Facilities Management or related field. Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Additional years (3 ) of directly related full-time professional experience in facilities management. Experience in custodial services/housekeeping management. Certified or licensed in building trades, building safety systems, building operations, and/or facilities management. Prior experience at a University or similar conference center facility.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Assistant Building Manager will support the Building Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Charles B. Wang Center. This includes managing custodial services, coordinating event support, ensuring safety and security, and assisting in facility maintenance. The position requires close collaboration with the Conference Services Unit, University Events Team, and various campus departments. The Assistant Building Manager must possess excellent customer service, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and be adept at problem-solving and multitasking in a dynamic environment.

Facility Management and Custodial Services

* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., EH&S, OFPC, OSHA) and address any building maintenance issues. Assist in overseeing custodial services, ensuring compliance with cleanliness standards, and conducting regular inspections and audits. Manage the scheduling and assignment of custodial staff, reallocating resources as necessary for emergencies and special projects. Assist in managing custodial vendor contracts, ensuring adherence to service agreements, and coordinating daily internal and external facility rounds to identify any maintenance or cleanliness issues. Assist with minor repairs and maintenance.

Event Support and Coordination

* Assist with event operations by overseeing setup, takedown, and logistics for internal and external events. Serve as a liaison with event clients to support planning and meet logistical needs. Ensure events comply with University policies and regulations related to safety, security, and fire protocols. Coordinate with vendors for event-related equipment and furniture deliveries and manage resources such as tables, chairs, easels, etc.

Pond Maintenance Management

* Assist in overseeing the maintenance contract for the indoor and outdoor ponds at the Wang Center. Ensure water cleanliness, inspect for leaks, and coordinate with the contracted vendor for scheduled cleanings, repairs, and emergency services.

Safety and Security

* Assist in maintaining safety and security protocols throughout the Wang Center and surrounding areas. Participate in and facilitate quality assurance tours, working closely with campus partners (e.g., Fire & Emergency Services, EH&S, University Police) to ensure a safe environment for all building occupants and visitors.

Operations and Administration

* Assist with the preparation of daily logs and reports on facility usage, event operations, and any incidents. Manage the opening and closing of the facility as needed, including during holidays and staff absences. Maintain an accurate inventory of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), and participate in the renewal cycle. Collaborate with the Building Manager and campus Facilities Operations to support budget management activities, requisitions for supplies, vendor quotes, and procurement according to state guidelines.

Other Duties

* Assist with emergency response coordination, including after-hours availability for critical situations. Participate in developing scopes of work, procurement processes, and project management for maintenance and renovation projects. Engage in training and development initiatives for custodial staff, including student workers. Perform additional tasks as assigned to align with the departmental mission and goals.

* Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.

Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
