Position Summary
Nutrablend Foods is seeking an Assistant Buyer to play a key role in the overall NBF supply chain. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all purchasing tasks to ensure production schedules are maintained, while minimizing inventory carrying costs and risk. The role will play key functions in supporting overall cost savings.
Responsibilities
Enter POs based on MRP, vendor MOQ, cost and lead time, and ensure delivery date will meet production schedule and update as needed
Maintain and update purchasing files, including vendor and material specific documentation
Evaluate vendor quality, cost, availability and reliability when purchasing products
Communicate order status information to internal teams
Coordinate a high number of different suppliers and raw materials efficiently
Monitor price changes regularly and assess impact on customer pricing/open orders with Sales Team to determine potential repricing strategy
Assist purchasing team with sourcing requests and coordinate communication of supplier resources, prices, and technical support ensuring materials meet quality standards and customer specifications as applicable
Seek continual improvements to reduce risk and address waste reduction
Qualifications
2 years experience in procurement and/or purchasing within the food industry or related
Experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
Analytical, organized and process-oriented
Strong verbal and written communication, in both technical and non-technical capacities
Demonstrates initiative, works well independently and has a proven ability to problem solve
Experience with ERP (SAP experience preferred) and understanding of data management principles
