Position Title Assistant Cheerleading Coach PIN 681100 Classification Summary
Incumbents assist with planning and directing the activities of an athletic team, or provide coaching services as an assistant to a head coach, and may coordinate administrative functions in support of athletic programs. Responsibilities may include scheduling, planning, and implementing practices; monitoring a budget; recruiting student athletes; monitoring compliance with rules and regulations; coordinating the use of facilities and equipment; maintaining records of activities; and preparing operational reports.
This is a non-contractual position but is subject to annual renewal of appointment based on performance and departmental needs.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience
Associate's Degree and experience in playing or coaching the sport at the collegiate level required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team within the athletic department are required.

Classification Duties
* In conjunction with the Head Coach, assist with the instruction of student athletes on specific sporting skills on an individual and/or team basis, including the following: suggest an alternative teaching method when needed to meet the individual needs of the group; providing athletes with adequate information on workouts, cross training, and other applicable items; facilitating drills; reviewing videos; evaluating performance; and performing other related activities. * Under the direction of the Head Coach, recruit student athletes and determine the academic probability of a student's success by evaluating academic credentials, performance, and personality; offer scholarships to student athletes when probability of success meets specified criteria. (B2)
* Under the direction of the Head Coach, recommend to 4-year college athletic coaches all Jefferson College student-athletes wishing to transfer. Emphasis should be placed on securing athletic scholarships for athletes wanting to continue their pursuit of an athletic and academic career. (B2)
* When the Head Coach is unavailable, work with the Student-Athlete Success Coordinator to develop students, both academically and athletically, by monitoring academic results and athletic achievements and to assure eligibility status and appropriate academic progress of the student-athlete. Specific attention should be given to encouraging an athlete toward completion of graduation requirements. (B2)
* Supervise team activities. This includes, but is not limited to, attendance at home contests of the College's other sports programs and campus and community events. Prepare sporting equipment for practices and games by ensuring equipment is properly handled and maintained at all times. (B2)
* Conduct him/herself in a professional manner and be a positive role model for the student-athletes with whom they interact on a daily basis (A1)
* Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
