JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Child Care Director is responsible for programming and supervising a child care program to meet the needs of the children and parents it serves. The Assistant Child Care Director will be responsible for the site specified in the work agreement, as well as those assigned by the Child Care Director. The Assistant Childcare Director will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y and the regulating agency. She/he will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties. JOB FUNCTION:
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY - Assist with designing and gearing the program to reflect the needs of the children with respect to their interests, abilities, talents, and individual style of learning.
- Assist with developing, planning, supervising and implementing the program curriculum for the classroom (teaching strategies) in accordance with the Y's policies and philosophy and with NAEYC recommended standards for quality.
- Help to ensure the completion of progress reports and evaluations of children
- Understand and assure all regulations and policies set forth by EEC and OCY are met
- Assists with Completing the following record keeping systems:
- Overdue AR reports and payment records
- Enrollment statistics/waitlists
- CCFA income eligible assessments and reassessments/completeness of all files/accurate monthly attendance
- Bureau of Nutrition reports and applications
- Monthly voucher RFP's
- Spirit - maintain enrollment, invoice and collect weekly payments
- Meet with parents to conduct new intakes or discuss progress as needed
- Supervise children in all program locations including field trips
- Assist in providing a weekly staff schedule and ensure staff coverage at all times
- Assist in ensuring timely issuance of monthly newsletters and calendar of events
- Complete necessary documentation including: incident and accident reports, attendance records
- Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to the OCY's Behavior Management Policy and Child Care Policies.
- Ensure all fiscal policies are adhered to as they relate to collection, safekeeping and depositing of all funds
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: - Assist with monthly staff meetings with child care staff.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and all staff meetings.
- Assist and take responsibility when the Director is out in recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, supervising and scheduling staff.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintain all required documentation of expenses
- Assist in ordering/purchasing needed supplies, snack and equipment
- Assist in developing, executing and monitoring the site budget
- Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such including purchase orders, employee expense, client overdues, deposits and billing.
FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintain the highest level of cleanliness by monitoring and assisting in the general cleaning of areas pertaining to the childcare program.
- Address housekeeping issues appropriately with personnel, ensure that timely action is taken.
- Inspect/monitor for safety hazards daily and complete safety inspections quarterly.
- Ensure building and food permits are up to date.
INTERDIVISIONAL/COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Actively participate on assigned committees and with the Y's Annual Campaign.
- Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
- Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Minimum Required):
- Must meet all requirements for the EEC Director/Lead Teacher Certification.
- Minimum of two years supervision/management experience
- Evidence of physical examination within the last 12 months
- Minimum: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or enrolled in a degree program.
- Minimum of two years classroom experience
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
- Certificate of immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
- Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
- Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
- Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
