General Statement of Job
The Assistant Childcare Center Manager plans and develops curriculum for the Child Development Center in collaboration with the Child Development Center Manager; trains and mentors staff; coordinates field study student assignments; and assists the Child Development Center Manager, as needed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
* Collaborates with the Child Development Center Manager to plan, develop and implement a creative developmental curriculum for the program in compliance with regulatory agencies and national accreditation guidelines; communicates status of maintenance of standards to Child Development Center Manager.
* Coordinates the placement of field study students, schedules students, keeps records, performs orientations, and monitors students experience in collaboration with the child development faculty.
* Assists the Child Development Center Manager to ensure staff is informed of performance standards; provides on-going training program for staff, ensures staff completes first aid training, CPR training and maintains certifications as per state regulations and national accreditation guidelines.
* Reviews best practices in child care and development and recommends and mentors best practices to Child Development Center teachers in coordination with the Child Development Center Manager.
* Assists the Child Development Center Manager in management of food service for the Child Development Center following United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child and Adult Food Care Program guidelines, including implementation of food reimbursement programs.
* Completes national accreditation documentation in collaboration with the Child Development Center Manager and communicates guidelines to Child Development Center staff at the directive of the Child Development Center Manager; communicates licensing requirements at the directive of the Child Development Center Manager.
* Assists the Child Development Center Manager, as needed.
* Ensures licensing, accreditation, and workforce performance standards are met by staff and center environment
* Mentors and supervises staff in regards to classroom management and curriculum implementation.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood or related field required. Minimum 6 credit hours in Business required.
* At least five (5) years of experience in a child development center environment required.
* Experience in mentoring staff and implementing and overseeing curriculum and assessments of children, preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of child development center licensing regulations.
* Knowledge of national accreditation guidelines and accreditation process.
* Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices.
* Maintains familiarity with the College's policies and procedures.
* Maintains knowledge of United States Department of Agriculture - Child and Adult Care Food Program and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services - Child Care Licensing Division.
* Demonstrated knowledge of reporting requirements and records management.
* Ability to work cooperatively with parents/guardians and staff.
* Ability to organize, plan, develop and implement schedules.
* Knowledge and ability to develop and implement staff trainings.
* Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
* Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.

Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
* All applicants are subject to a national criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
* Security Sensitive position: In addition, subject to federal background check.
* Must have valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability insurance.
* Must have complete immunization records in compliance with Department of Health and Child Care Licensing regulations.
* CPR and First Aid certifications required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
* Food Safety Manager Certification, preferred.
