- Assist with performing preventive maintenance duties as scheduled.
- Assist in monitor debarking drum for proper operation.
- Assist with optimizingdebarking drum and chipper operations to maximize chip production.
- Assist with monitoring the Stacker System and direct chips to the appropriate chip pile.
- Assist with Pallman chipper knife change-outs, as necessary.
- Troubleshooting and analyzing chip quality as it relates to MDF production quality.
- Always manage housekeeping expectations in all plant areas.
- Thorough and complete adherence to the MDF Plant Quality Management System (QMS).
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies, procedures, and standards of quality.
- Comfortable with numbers, basic mathematical calculations and measurements of log, chip and bark inventories.
- Exhibit, promote, and always enforce all company safety expectations and requirements.
- Eventually becoming proficient in all above areas.
Professional Experience:
- Two years of experience in production plant preferred.
- Strong computer/HMI skills required for operation of automated equipment and systems.
- Strong work ethic, sense of duty and the ability to mentor/cross-train team members.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Education and Specialized Skill Profile:
- High school graduate (or equivalent) minimum.
- Sound verbal/written/documentation skills, along with a basic understanding of personal computer usage for record keeping purposes.
- All-around heavy equipment operator with experience preferred.
- Capable of being cross-trained on the log crane and front-end loader, eventually becoming proficient in the operation of this equipment.
- Ability to read, comprehend and understand equipment Operation & Maintenance manuals and related technical standards.
- Strong work ethic, sense of duty and the ability to mento/cross-train team members.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- A sense of urgency, a capacity for accurate decisions and the ability to exercise sound judgement in a demanding work environment.
- Availability to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, plus respond to occasional off-hours call-outs to ensure plant reliability of operations.
- Team player who works well with other company employees and associates; problem solver who is resilient and reliable.
Environment and Behavioral profile:
- The Assistant Chipper operator will be subject to all environmental elements such as exposure to high/low temperatures, sun/rain, confined spaces, etc.
- The Assistant Chipper Operator must be able to complete daily tasks under little to no supervision, should have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, making decisions quickly with clear consistent communication.
Linguistic Profile:
- The MDF plant requires English language skills (oral and written) to successfully complete the appropriate scope of work.
Mobility and Physical Requirement profile:
- Work location is Barnwell. This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
- Be expected to stand for a full shift. Employee will be required to perform climbing stairs, walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving lift truck duties at variable frequency.
- There is occasional lifting that may require handling of components which can weigh up to approximately 50 lbs.
- While performance the job duties of this job, communicate by talking on radio, and walk constantly during shift.

- Internal: MDF, Maintenance, Production Planning, Research & Development and Sales.
- External: Vendors, Suppliers, Service Contractors, and other Krono Swiss Plants.
