Job Description:Assistant CIO, Enterprise Applications Office of Information Technology Reporting to the VP/CIO, the Assistant CIO, Enterprise Applications is a strategic leader and will have direct oversight for the Enterprise Application Systems group, coordinating resources, services, and budgets pertaining to administrative applications and enterprise systems. The Assistant CIO will be responsible for building strong and productive relationships with many University leaders and constituents, communicating with and advising departments across campus to provide efficient and effective digital solutions for the University. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Assistant CIO will work with stakeholders across the University, determining policies, procedures and strategies for effective implementation and management of enterprise applications and related technologies. The position requires an individual with proven collaborative, strategic, executive, and departmental management experience. The Assistant CIO will manage talent and resources across a number of existing teams (HRIS/Finance, Business Intelligence, Business Systems and Integration, Student Systems, Web Services, Identity Services, and Digital Engagement). The Assistant CIO will be a visionary leader with knowledge of business management and a deep knowledge of both enterprise applications and the underlying technology including experience managing both Software-as-a-Service and on-premise deployments. They serve as a consultant and advisor to Senior IT staff on advanced technologies and evaluate the business impact through cost/benefit analysis. The Assistant CIO recommends and incorporates technology strategy in alignment with OIT and University goals. The Assistant CIO will be a consensus builder and an integrator of people, processes, and technology in a rich and diverse digital environment. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative, and collaborative, with a sophisticated ability to work with other leaders to set the best balance between enterprise application strategies and other priorities across the university. Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Leadership experience driving transformational change within a complex environment.
  • 10 - 15 years of IT experience preferably within an academic environment.
  • 5 years leadership and supervisory experience within an IT department aligning technology planning with strategic priorities, preferably within a complex academic environment.
  • Experience in the development of strategic and operational plans, and development of project goals and objectives.
  • Experience working with a wide range of constituencies in an institution of higher education
  • Proven experience in leading multiple large units as part of a larger complex and diverse organization and in fostering a positive team-spirited technology culture.
  • Ability to decisively make innovative decisions involving a high degree of complexity.
  • Experience in developing a vision and plans for future technologies and capabilities.
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate, evaluate and develop staff.
  • Recognized service ethic and a diplomatic style of interaction.
  • Demonstrated abilities to work collaboratively with professional staff members and all sectors of the University community.
  • Extensive knowledge of trends and future directions in the use of technologies in the university environment.
  • Deep understanding of advanced technologies.
  • Ability to navigate discussions regarding selection, deployment and integration of technology to support the student experience and build a strong network of communication with direct reports, other departments, and executive-level colleagues.
  • Ability to map business requirements to IT architecture and strategy.
  • A strong communicator interested in receiving input, sharing outcomes of decisions, and building a sense of trust.
  • Ability to facilitate planning and strategy meetings.
  • Experience planning and managing a technology budget
  • The successful candidate will have a proactive service ethic, be tactful under pressure, and demonstrate an ability to communicate and work collaboratively with all levels of technical and professional staff, senior IT management and university leadership, and all sectors of the user community.
