Primary Job Duties: This is administrative and professional engineering work involving responsibility for assisting and administering the design, construction and inspection of all engineering projects, and coordinating the over-all engineering program of the city, including alteration of municipal buildings. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Public Works or his designee in accordance with established policies and outlined objectives, with considerable latitude for the exercise of professional judgement in planning and carrying out details. Supervision is exercised over the activities of professional and technical subordinates. Does related work as required.

Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering; OR Six (6) years of satisfactory, progressively responsible civil or related engineering experience, at least two (2) years of which shall have involved the supervision of the design or construction of municipal engineering projects.
Special Requirements
Candidates must possess a professional engineer's license granted by the State of New York, upon application of examination. Must possess a valid New York State driver's license at time of appointment.
