Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* First Aid, CPR certification, AED
* CORI/SORI
* Has a reputable background in working with youth
* Has previous coaching or playing experience in the assigned position
* Has no family member on the assigned team
* College degree is desired
Desired Qualifications:
* Prior experience working with students with special needs in a partial inclusion or substantially separate placement
* Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
* Understanding of special education regulations and laws
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
* Will instruct athletes in fundamental skills and strategies in line with the objectives of the Head coach
* Has thorough knowledge of the athletic policies and acts to fulfill it in the Middle School
* Models positive behaviors consistent with the expectations for athletes in the program in and out of the competitive arena. Especially to issues related to sportsmanship and the alcohol, drug and tobacco rules
* Will instruct and guide students toward positive values, acceptable behaviors, and self-discipline in line with our Mission Statement
* Wears proper attire at coaching events
* Will support other programs and other coaches at Oak Hill
* Communicates daily with the head coach
* Complete the daily assignments give it to him by the head coach
* Develops in each athlete a respect for school property and its care
* Responsible for implementing other job related duties as needed
* Consistent and on-time attendance is required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Work Environment:
Much of the work is performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate. The remainder of the work is performed on athletic fields and athletic facilities.
Physical Requirements:
This is a position that requires stamina and endurance to be available from the beginning to the end of the school day until the last student leaves the last practice or game in the evening. The Assistant Coach is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building and on nearby athletic fields and facilities.
