Position Title Assistant Coach, Men's & Women's Swimming Posting Number AS896P Subdivision Athletic Director's Office Division Athletics Department Athletics Location Erie, Pa Position Summary

This is a full-time, 12 month position that will report to the Head Men's and Women's Swimming Coach. The assistant coach will assist in coaching, managing, and directing all aspects of a competitive, NCAA Division II, intercollegiate swimming program. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists in developing and maintaining all aspects of a successful NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Swimming Team for the Athletic Department at Gannon University.

2. Supports the Head Coach in providing direction, coordination, and instruction to Gannon's, the men's and women's swimming team.

3. Recruits prospective student-athletes; inclusive of, but not limited to, international recruiting.

4. Supports the Head Coach in ensuring compliance with all applicable University, NCAA, and Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rules, regulations, and policies.

5. Monitors, educates, and advises all student-athletes concerning expectations in the classroom, during competitions and practices, and within campus and community living..

6. Represent the Gannon University Athletic Department in professional, civic, charity, and alumni events.

7. Assists the Head Coach in developing and implementing camps and clinics.

8. Assists the Head Coach in scheduling all competitive facilities in conjunction with administration.

9. Schedules all practices and practice facilities in conjunction with administration approval.

10. Assists the Head Coach in preparing advanced scheduling for all transportation, hotel, and meal requirements for away contests.

11. Following established procedures, purchases, issues, maintains, and collects all team apparel and equipment.

12. Assists the Head Coach in maintaining accurate statistics for each meet and student-athlete; submits a report of all event results to the appropriate sports information contact.

13. Trains, strengthens, and develops all student-athletes in compliance with all NCAA Division II and PSAC rules and regulations.

14. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope, responsibility, and requirements of the position.

Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree is required.

Experience: One to three years of men's and women's swimming coaching or competitive swimming experience. Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations is required.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid driver's license in good standing. Per Gannon's Institutional Policy Manual there can be no suspensions on the Motor Vehicle Record for 5 years prior to being hired.

Skills: Ability to effectively teach multiple techniques related to swimming and/or diving; effectively recruit prospective national and international student-athletes to a highly selective university. Must be able to pass the NCAA recruiting test annually and have excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and flexibility is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree is preferred. Coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Strength and conditioning certification.

Lifeguard/first aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer; CPO license preferred.

Physical Demands

Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy athletic and academic environment.

Work is performed in a busy indoor and outdoor University setting.
