Carlow University is currently accepting applications for our Assistant Coach Track and Field, Jumps Coach - Part Time role. As Assistant Coach, the successful candidate will have specific responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Head Coach of the Track and Field program, which includes recruitment of qualified student-athletes, supervision of student athletes, assisting in planning practices and scheduling appropriate competitions under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, and any other responsibilities deemed necessary to complete the job successfully.This role is responsible for the recruitment of traditional students to participate in intercollegiate athletics at the University. The coach is also responsible for participating actively in team recruitment activities, including on and off campus programs; assisting in the development and implementation of marketing/recruiting strategies; and supporting set office policies and procedures. This position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work in a high-volume, fast-paced and goal-oriented atmosphere both independently, and as part of a unified team.Must have previous Coaching experience preferably at the collegiate and NCAA III level.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Each Assistant coach's responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to the following:
  • To teach and uphold the mission of Carlow University and the Philosophy of Carlow Athletics and the core values embedded in each.
  • Assist the head coach in Planning, developing and executing a season long plan for the student-athletes on your team.
  • Plan and attend all practices, scrimmages and home and away competitions.
  • Adhere to University and Athletic Department policies both written and those established and considered customary and usual operating procedures, particularly with regard to travel and business policies.
  • Provide and demonstrate positive support to other Department staff, teams, student-athletes, and all other Carlow University personnel.
  • Assist the head coach in Designing and implementing an appropriate preseason, and off-season conditioning program.
  • Successfully recruit quality student-athletes with proven academic achievement and athletics skills
  • Emphasize the academic and athletic balance for each student-athlete & member of your team.
  • Successfully assist head coach in retaining and graduate athletic recruits
  • Successfully manage team dynamics and maintain professional, non-social relationship with student-athletes
  • Regularly communicate with the Director of Athletics, Sports Information Director, Athletic Trainers and Admissions Counselors (both in and out of season) and respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Help manage and maintain equipment and uniform inventories.
  • Represent Carlow University positively at on and off campus events.
  • Attend University events when requested by the Director of Athletics; Attend all department meetings.
  • Adhere to NCAA III, USCAA and AMCC Conference rules; maintain statistics and submit all information, i.e. results, statistics, award nominations (scholar-athlete, all conference, etc.) info in a timely manner
  • Regularly check email, voicemail and campus mailbox and respond as needed in a timely manner.
  • Report injuries and emergencies to appropriate personnel
  • Report any issues with equipment, vans, facilities to the Director of Athletics.
  • Represent the Department of Athletics positively to opponents, officials, fans and other members of the Carlow community.
  • Create and model a positive environment that promotes academic and athletic achievement and enhances the student's overall intercollegiate athletic experience.
