Long Island University is seeking a dedicated Assistant Coach for our Men's and Women's Rowing program. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Head Coach to foster a competitive athletics environment that supports the educational goals of our student-athletes. This position requires strict adherence to all NCAA and University regulations while promoting academic integrity in recruitment and eligibility processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coach and develop the men's and women's rowing teams to maintain a competitive, high-quality program.
* Assist in planning and overseeing team practices and intercollegiate competitions.
* Recruit talented student-athletes who align with the University's mission and values.
* Collaborate with various departments (athletic training, academic services, etc.) to monitor and support student-athlete progress.
* Handle administrative duties and coordinate community and campus service events.
* Implement programs to facilitate student-athletes' successful transition to college life.
* Partner with Admissions, including International Admissions, to recruit student-athletes.
* Provide and coordinate academic support for student-athletes, ensuring they meet academic standards.
* Promote retention and academic success among student-athletes.
* Participate in fundraising initiatives to support the athletics program, including promotional events and campaigns.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Water safety skills, along with CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
* Ability to convey information clearly to individuals and groups.
* Proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous collegiate coaching experience.
* Degree in a relevant field.
* Knowledge of NCAA and other governing body rules and regulations.
* At least three years of coaching experience.
* Experience as a collegiate rower.
* Ability to drive a boat trailer and perform maintenance on rowing equipment.
