Job Description:
St. Ambrose University is seeking an Assistant Comptroller who will support the Comptroller in overseeing the financial operations of the university, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and accounting functions. This individual will assist in the preparation of financial statements, manage accounting systems, and support internal controls to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and schedules in accordance with university policies, GAAP, and governmental regulations.
  • Review and monitor the university's financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with university policies and regulations.
  • Assist with the development and preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide oversight and support for internal controls and assist with audits, both internal and external.
  • Manage and oversee the university's cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations and compliance with financial policies.
  • Participate in special financial projects and initiatives as directed by the Comptroller or senior financial leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, or auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Experience with financial systems and accounting software.
  • Knowledge of higher education accounting and compliance requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
