Position: Assistant Construction Project ManagerReports to: Project ExecutiveThe UIP Companies, Inc. The APM is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in driving the project to completion on-time, within budget, while providing an exceptional experience for all stakeholders. The APM is responsible for coordinating the complete construction and administrative requirements of the various bid packages; organizing the complexities into a management system that will establish, monitor, and follow-up on each vendor's compliance; and orchestrating the information flows needed for each component and system to be incorporated into the project - all within the time frames needed by the progress schedule.Responsibilities
- Work with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and the estimating/purchasing effort in the final development of various bid packages and the baseline construction schedule
- Work with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop site utilization and logistic programs
- Establish, maintain, conduct, and police detailed procedures for the submittal, review, coordination, approval, and distribution of shop drawings, samples, etc.
- Establish and maintain all project files related to subcontract and bid package records, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, and as-built documents
- Review all vendor schedules and prepare the general schedule as coordinated with the Project Manager
- Manage the periodic requisition procedure for review, submittal, and payment
- Determine appropriateness and prepare subcontractor change orders to be processed through the Project Manager
- Evaluate subcontractor payment requisitions relative to actual work performed
- Working with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Accounting to prepare the general requisition and follow it through to payment
- Assign cost codes for all aspects of the work and ensure that all documents are properly coded
- Expedite pricing and draft paperwork required in order to formalize change orders for review by the PM
- Prepare scopes of work, budgets, review and procure bids, and prepare and administer contracts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years' experience with a commercial general contractor
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods associated with the renovation of commercial and institutional buildings
- Proven ability to solve problems, multi-task and react quickly to issues and problems
- Ability and proven experience motivating teams and achieving targeted goals
- Ability to communicate effectively

- Ability to work well under pressure
- High degree of self-motivation and ability to work well with/without direct supervision
- Highly entrepreneurial
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Solid understanding/proficiency in Procore and MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must have a reliable vehicle to travel between jobs and proof of liability insurance for same
