Job DetailsJobot is partnering with a growing Denver based commercial construction company to staff a position as an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the following:1. Generala. Preparing and consolidating financial statements i. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for construction projects.b. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and adherence to accounting standards and regulations.c. Establishing and maintaining internal controls d. Managing all aspects of the general ledger e. Coordinating or assisting with the budget process f. Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles g. Serving as a liaison to external auditors h. Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments2. Project Cost Accounting:a. Track and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and overhead costs.b. Monitor project budgets and provide regular updates on project financial performance to project managers and senior management.3. Job Costing and Billing:a. Manage job costing processes to accurately allocate costs to specific construction projects.b. Review and approve project invoices and billing documentation for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.4. Financial Analysis:a. Conduct financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support decision-making and strategic planning for construction projects.b. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.5. Compliance and Audits:a. Ensure compliance with construction accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and company policies.b. Assist in internal and external audits of construction projects, providing documentation and support as needed.6. Payrolla. Ensure proper reconciliation of payroll utilizing GL information and external payroll providers.b. Ensure proper compliance and timeliness with construction industry standards (ie. Prevailing wage, ROCIP reporting).If you have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of progressive, full cycle accounting experience, have a background in the construction/manufacturing/distribution industries with a strong understanding of job cost/inventory/project accounting and WIP billing, possess excellent technical skills, enjoy working in a collaborative and team oriented environment and are eager to continue to learn and grow, than this could be a great opportunity for you.
