  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) or more years of experience in accounting encompassing similarduties.
  • A Certified Public Accounting license (CPA) is strongly preferred.
  • Big 4 public accounting firm experience strongly preferred.
  • Real estate and investment management experience preferred.

  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of GAAP principles and procedures.
  • IT savvy with proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced skills in Excel including advanced forecasting and modeling using pivots, macros, etc.
  • Ability to create and analyze financial statements.
  • Decision making capabilities on significant matters including budget development and allocation, processes and procedures.
  • Strong organization and time management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform/oversee aspects of month-end financial reporting process including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure that financial statements are complete, timely and accurate.
  • Perform/oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes and preparation of budget-to-actual variance reports. Provide actual and forecasted data to department heads and work with them to prepare a departmental budget in a timely manner. Review the proposed department budget for accuracy and inquire when things are incomplete or not as expected.
  • Perform research and analysis on private and public equities owned by McNair entities.
  • Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records.
  • Contribute to analytical needs in other areas of the organization such as treasury, tax, legal and accounting.
  • Oversee the annual external audit process including communicating directly with auditors and preparing requested materials, schedules and the drafting of financials.
  • Effectively share in all supervisory responsibilities including hiring, performance management and termination for the Senior, Staff Accountant and Manager positions to ensure that departmental goals are achieved.
  • Ensure entity is in compliance with debt agreements and any other obligatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls.
  • Participate in the review and approval of accounts payable invoices processed through Avid and employee expense reports processed through Concur.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage the financial accounting system by overseeing the general ledger.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Oversee new vendor setup process, ensuring that any new vendor being set up has all required forms filled out and included in the accounting system. Verbally verify the information directly with vendors.
  • Assist the Controller with ad hoc reporting and analysis. Mitigate risk for the Company to maximize office and stakeholder resources.
  • Ensure information is communicated to the team in a timely manner.
  • Flexible and willing to work on-site to enable efficient cross-functional collaboration for special or critical projects.
  • Understand companywide accounting milestones and ensure team deliverables meet set deadlines.
  • Maintaining settings for various applications, including MRI, Avid, Rabbet, and others, as necessary.
  • Perform various other tasks as needed.
  • Participate in cash flow forecasting and analysis across multiple entities.
  • Perform/oversee the investment accounting process, including capital calls/distributions, quarterly valuations, monthly consolidation, and reporting for all private equity funds, direct investments, real estate development/operating companies, and marketable securities.
  • Perform/oversee the quarterly fund reporting to external investors, including investment performance, capital calls, and distributions. Distribute statements to partners and assist Treasury with the various relevant cash transfers that are required as a result.
  • Analyze large sets of data to accomplish complex ad-hoc projects as needed.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statement reporting package for distribution to the CFO.
  • On a daily basis, maintain adequate oversight of the accounting team to monitor all team members' daily tasks and deliverables.
  • Researches and proposes best accounting treatments for various non-routine transactions by U.S. GAAP
  • Understands the business model, entity relationships, and funding/finance structure of each entity and can independently take steps to research, resolve, and propose appropriate accounting team actions or accounting treatment.
  • Serves as the second reviewer for accounting entries prepared by the accounting team as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Understands all tools and processes to enable adequate engagement and direction to team members.
  • Engages technical support for Avid and MRI on behalf of the accounting team as necessary.
  • Prepares complex accounting estimates for various real estate entities.
  • Analyzes and understands trends and relationships among the financial statements.
  • Perform quarterly intercompany reviews for Corporate intercompany clearing activities.
  • Understand the accounts receivable module, screen new account requests, and ensure the accounting team uses adequately
  • Prepare non-routine financial information for real estate projects.
  • Assist team members in developing an understanding of and providing relevant support for nonroutine accounting transactions.
  • Prepare and forecast proforma financial statements or estimates of proposed accounting transactions or events
  • Monitor expense report processes and work closely with the accounting team to complete reviews and address any concerns timely.
  • Assist with capitalization assessments of large purchases/transactions, setting assets up in the fixed asset accounting module.
  • Monitor the construction draw process and work with the team to move it along, including initial reviews, coding, addressing reviewer/department questions, and executing the package.
  • Reviewing construction draws for accuracy, completeness, and overall quality and conformity with lender requirements and general real estate practices,
  • Promote a quality-driven work ethic.
  • Identify areas of improvement, seek feedback, and establish timeline and transition milestones for process changes.
  • Work closely with upper management and peers to manage necessary access or changes to accounting team applications, such as Rabbet for construction loan draws, MRI for accounting, and Avid for payables.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position includes sharing supervisory responsibilities for one or more direct reports.
