Overview of the Role:
- This position will begin immediately after an interview for the selected candidate
- Position is 100% in office in Pasadena, MD to start. After training, there will be an opportunity for two days work from home.
- Hours are typically 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday
Job Duties:
- Oversee the timely processing of accounts payable and receivable activities, expense reports, and payroll processing
- Coordinate with outside professional advisors to ensure payroll, sales/use tax, property and income taxes are reported and paid
- Oversee all HR activities to ensure all employment documentation are complete and in compliance with state and federal laws
- Oversee administration of corporate 401k plan including reports and submissions in accordance with legal and plan requirements
- Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure compliance
- Maintain and improve systems that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value
- Work with IT to maintain security of company electronic and physical assets
- Respond to owner and VPO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs
Ideal Candidate for this Position:
- The Assistant Controller must have exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Must be very detail oriented and also able to multitask
- Possesses strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Has the ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong supervisory skills
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- 3-5 years' accounting experience required
- Intermediate Excel skills required
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Recent experience with Sage 100 highly preferred. Experience with other construction software a plus
- Degree not required, but is a plus
- Supervisory experience a plus
