Position Summary

Provides direct assistance to the kitchen and nutrition staff for congregate and home-delivered meal services for Peoria Senior Center and/or Wickenburg Senior Center.

This position has no reports.

Essential Functions:

% of Time

  • Assists the cook with preparation, cooking and serving of congregate and home-delivered meals, ensuring standards of portions, temperatures and sanitation are maintained
  • Assists the cook with ordering food and supplies
  • Assists with the inventory count
  • Ensures proper storage of food and tools to maintain quality, sanitation and accessibility for use
  • Operates, maintains and cleans kitchen large and small appliances, kitchen tools, and refrigeration equipment
  • Assists with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and tools used in the kitchen
  • Assists with kitchen clean-up in order to maintain sanitary conditions
  • Assists with special programs conducted by the staff or volunteer organizations
  • Assist with delivery, to include driving, of home-delivered meals
  • Full Time position works a minimum of 31 hours per week
  • Part Time position works a maximum of 30 hours per week
  • This position is classified as Safety Sensitive
  • Expected to cover Cook and HDM drivers when necessary

Requirements

Education/Experience/Credentials/Knowledge/Understanding

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year+ experience in handling, preparing, and cooking food items for large groups (100-150 people)
  • Able to read, write and follow written instructions
  • Possess a valid unrestricted driver license and be insurable by FSL, valid MVR
  • Possess CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of position entry
  • Possess Valid Food Handlers Card or ability to obtain within 60 days of position entry
  • Clear fingerprint background screening through the Department of Public Safety and comprehensive background clearance to include a physical, drug screen and other
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Works with or near kitchen large and small appliances, sharp tools, and refrigeration equipment
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Requires bending, stooping, lifting, reaching and crouching
  • Requires standing for long periods of time
  • Requires working in various temperatures
  • Must be able to drive during daylight hours
