A family-owned Life Insurance company is seeking an Attorney to join their team and provide a broad range of legal support across the entire business. This is a generalist role reporting directly to the General Counsel, where you will gain exposure to a wide variety of in-house counsel responsibilities, supporting specialized areas including insurance law, employment, commercial contracts, litigation, and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and review commercial agreements with internal teams, external administrators and other entities
- Support the business and its affiliates in all aspects of legal support in assigned areas of law; ERISA, probate, securities, bankruptcy, tax, etc.
- Conduct legal research and communicate findings to the business to address accordingly
- Investigate insurance claims and handle other matters related to insurance law broadly
- Develop polices and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
- Coordinate with internal counsel on ad-hoc responsibilities and special projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited Law School
- Strong contract drafting/review ability
- Insurance experience is not a requirement, but is considered a significant plus
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Verbal and written communication fluency and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
