Job Description:

The Westchester County Attorney s Office is searching for attorneys to handle legal issues relating to the operation of County government in the Family Court Bureau.

The attorneys will appear in Family Court and handle child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency and/or child support cases. Successful candidates should have demonstrated interest in criminal and/or family law, must be able to work independently and have strong litigation, oral and written communication skills. Attorneys must possess excellent judgment, exceptional organizational abilities, strong leadership skills, solid knowledge of criminal law, the Family Court Act, Social Services Law and evidentiary issues, and strong interpersonal skills.

Must be able to work collaboratively with County Attorney staff, other attorneys, Court staff and other County agencies in a fast paced and demanding environment. The candidate for the child support position must pass a U.S. Department of Justice background check. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Family Court attorney or as a prosecutor.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidates must have graduated from a school of law with an LLB or JD degree and be admitted to the New York State Bar. Experience in the Family Court is preferred.
