Job Description:
This is an administrative support position responsible for assisting the District Court Administrator with the administration and daily operation of the Bedford County Court of Common Pleas and its Magisterial District Judge Courts. Work is performed independently under the direct supervision of the District Court Administrator and the general direction of the President Judge.Job DutiesManages the civil caseload to include scheduling of civil matters and preparation of orders.Coordinates court-appointed counsel for criminal cases and Orphans' Court cases. Prepares orders for court appointments.Prepares, processes, and distributes Magisterial District Judge leave orders. bench warrants. and the CRN list for the Probation office.Compiles, prepares and distributes the weekly court calendar.Manages the criminal Trial List from Central Court for cases proceeding to Common Pleas Court.Schedules Summary Appeal hearings. Prepares and distributes Summary Appeal notices and process continuance requests for Summary Appeal hearings.Answers the phone and responds to in-person inquiries from attorneys, litigants, court and county staff, and the general public regarding court information and procedures.Processes all court invoices and billings from court-appointed attorneys for payment, and monitors receipt of publications for the judges and magisterial district judges.Miscellaneous duties include processing the mail, ordering office supplies, filing, and typing a multitude of various orders.Confirms consent of Expungement with the Probation Office and District Attorney's Office. Distributes granted Expungements and schedules denied petitions for a hearing.Serves as the Language Access Coordinator and ADA coordinator.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, ANDThree years of administrative or office support experience in a legal, judicial, or governmental setting.An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.Additional RequirementsSatisfactory criminal background check required.
