Assigns and manages student placement at external clinical sites. Manages student orientation and review of student files/records, including documentation required for student clinical placement. May teach non-clinical courses. Develops and maintains relationships with students and responds to day-to-day issues. Other duties and project participation as assigned.Responsibilities:Faculty:
- In conjunction with the Campus Dean/DON participate in staff/headcount planning, interviewing/selecting, orienting, and mentoring
- Communicate regularly with the Campus Dean/DON and inform him/her of all issues related to faculty and students
- Other administrative duties as assigned by the Campus Dean/DON
Clinical Site Relationships Duties:
- Secures clinical sites to ensure full implementation of the Program's clinical components, consistent with course objectives and Program student learning outcomes
- Acts as an ambassador for the Program and in all interactions with clinical facilities, clinical faculty, students, and other constituents
- Completes scheduled assessments of clinical sites through on-site visits, needs assessments, and course evaluations
- Establishes and participates in regular meetings with all clinical sites. Communicates issues, concerns, and needs related to use of clinical sites and freely shares information with the Campus Dean/DON
- Maintains awareness of student and faculty clinical evaluations in determining the appropriateness of sites; shares results with clinical sites in a timely and positive manner
Student Success:
- Plan, implement and evaluate student orientation for all Nursing programs
- Randomly review student files for accreditation readiness
- Manage the implementation and on-going effectiveness of programs, policies and practices to ensure student success
Clinical Compliance Duties:
- Ensures clinical affiliation agreements are current and are on file for each clinical site utilized for clinical experiences
- In collaboration with the Campus Dean/DON, ensures faculty are oriented to the requirements of assigned clinical sites; including but not limited to communication processes, computer training, and student assignments
- Addresses concerns related to the competency and skills of clinical faculty with the Campus Dean/DON and provides input into performance reviews, as requested by the Campus Dean/DON
- Assure clinical manuals are up to date and appropriate for each course
Campus Student Assessment Leader
- Manage the implementation and administration of student standardized testing and remediation plan
- Mentor and coach students to ensure Program success, including NLCEX, retention, and placement
- Evaluate the effectiveness of standardized testing and remediation plan. Propose enhancements as needed
Requirements:
- Completion of an approved professional nursing program, minimum of a Master's Degree with a major in nursing (MSN)
- Five years of experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse
- Managerial experience
- Minimum of two years teaching experience in a professional registered nursing program as a faculty member (RN PROGRAMMMMMM, not LPN)
- Incumbent must possess an active and unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in thestate of Ohio
- Current Basic Life Support CPR certification (BLS) compliant with the American Heart Association
- Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
- Ability to set priorities and organize tasks.
- Ability to coordinate projects independently
- Ability to coordinate schedules
- Ability to exercise and initiate sound judgment
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently
