The School of Nursing has an exciting opening for an Assistant Dean for Advancement (Chief Advancement Officer). This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Assistant Dean for Advancement develops and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising and alumni/constituent relations. This includes creating programs, activities, and initiatives that attract private support, volunteerism, and engages alumni and friends on behalf of the School. The Assistant Dean works closely with the School of Nursing team and University Advancement to lead and drive support for a comprehensive fundraising program, including corporate and foundation relations, major giving, planned giving, and annual giving.

What You Will Do:

Leadership and Team Management (30%)

  • Provide leadership of and oversee the day-to-day operations for the School of Nursing Advancement team.
  • Manage a team of professionals who will build strong and mutually beneficial relationships between the School (its Executive Dean, faculty, staff, and students) and external audiences such as donors, volunteers, alumni, business and community leaders, and select foundations.
  • Create and manage the School of Nursing Advancement team's budget with discretionary authority.
  • Responsible for the management, staff development, and career enrichment for the School of Nursing Advancement team.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications, provide strategic direction for the creation of a communications plan that promotes the School's objectives.
  • Frontline Fundraising (30%)

  • Focus the School's advancement related activities, including corporate and foundation relations, on securing major gifts ($100,000 and above).
  • Manage a portfolio of individual major gift prospects, including developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies for each assigned prospect.
  • Oversee the management of the School's portfolio of corporate prospects.
  • Strategy Development (15%)

  • Establish both long-term and short-term fundraising strategies for the School's overall Advancement activities.
  • Create strategies and direct the School's external outreach activities.
  • Volunteer Engagement (15%)

  • Provide strategy, counsel, and staffing to the School's Advisory Board and participate in advancement-related committees.
  • Program Development and Management (10%)

  • Direct and implement the School's advancement programs.
  • Coordinate the School's advancement activities with central development programs and services.
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    A bachelor's degree and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in institutional development/advancement, with an emphasis on cultivating and soliciting major gifts.

  • Proven track record partnering with Dean, ED or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve organizational effectiveness and results.
