Functions and Duties Essential Functions and Duties:
- Assists the Baton Rouge Zoo Director in day-to-day operation of all Administrative/Business operations, programs and facilities including staffing, schedule of activities and other uses.
- Oversees the IS functions within the Baton Rouge Zoo department in coordination with the IS department, including managing POS programs (KMIT), and supervising Baton Rouge Zoo employees with an IS focus.
- Responsible for the data management and evaluations, working with the Power BI (or other data system) to generate reports regarding participation, revenue, expenditures, and survey data.
- Serves as a liaison to the Finance department, assisting with the execution of service contracts, purchase orders, invoices, permits, and rentals.
- Serves a liaison to the Risk Management division by ensuring completion of paperwork, assisting with policy making, development of procedures to reduce liability, and training of Recreation staff in Risk Management principles.
- Serves as a liaison to the IS department in regard to hardware and software issues/concerns.
- Working with all divisions of BREC focused on compliance and auditing to ensure compliance with all BREC/Baron Rouge Zoo rules and regulations as well as any other legal standards.
- Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates Baton Rouge Zoo staff focused on administrative/business functions, such as IS, finance, Membership, Special Events, Catering and Rental Sales and compliance.
- Prepares annual budget; manages department revenues and expenditures and prepares financial reports; develops and monitors performance measures, statistics, program service evaluations, marketing efforts and other daily administrative/business functions. with training Baton Rouge Zoo staff on financial policies and procedures.
- Assumes duties of the Departmental Head in his/her absence as needed.
- Attends meetings of the BREC Commission, Advisory Committees as well as Professional Conferences as representative of the department.
- Recommends changes to procedures when necessary.
