Job Type Full-time Description The Assistant Designer for Girl's Apparel will collaborate closely with a Senior Designer to create stylish and trend-focused designs for children's clothing. This role involves understanding the trend curve and contributing to the development of the product line based on client needs and emerging fashions. Key responsibilities include producing flat sketches, technical packages, and managing samples, while also assisting with approvals and updates. The designer will stay informed about industry trends and work with vendors throughout the product development process. A background in design, particularly in children's wear, along with proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop, is essential for success in this role. Responsibilities
- Design styles for Girl's apparel while working under the guidance of a Senior Designer.
- Demonstrate excellent taste and understanding of the Girl's trend curve, from core basics to fashion-forward products.
- Assist in building the product line based on style plans, client needs, and emerging trends.
- Take ownership of the category while receiving oversight from the Senior Designer.
- Create flat sketches and technical packages detailing garment features, artworks, and colors.
- Sketch and design silhouettes as directed by the Senior Designer.
- Identify trends and conceptualize new ideas for Girl's apparel that align with existing brand aesthetics.
- Stay informed about the competitive landscape and industry trends, translating insights for the brand.
- Collaborate with the Senior Designer to ensure the assortment reflects the concept direction.
- Assist with product approvals, corrections, updates, and changes.
- Manage and organize store samples and technical package folders.
- Communicate with vendors throughout the product development process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field
- 1-3 years of experience; especially in childrenswear
- Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and trims
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Capability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
