Job Description
45% Leads the efforts in further integrating evidence-based de-escalation training into current Basic Training curriculum. In collaboration with KU's Center for Certification and Competency-Based Education (C3Be), develops assessments for de-escalation and ensures implementation of results.
30% Identify appropriate credit/non-credit programs and develop partnerships to facilitate their delivery on the KLETC campus. Coordinate with other resources of KU that assist students in their academic success, enhance their collegiate experience, and foster student perseverance. Coordinates with colleagues at KLETC to develop programs that seamlessly integrate basic training, professional development non-credit, and credit program offerings. Manages programs, projects, functions and/or processes of the academic instructional programs on the KLETC campus.
15% Works closely with academic schools. Collaborates with faculty and academic leadership in relevant departments throughout the KU community to bring the resources of KU to the unique constituency of KLETC.
5% Interacts regularly with law enforcement administrators statewide, other unit directors and KU administrators. Represents the campus on statewide committees and working groups.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* Master's degree from an institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in a field directly related to criminal justice, policy analysis, education, or management, and 3 years of related experience.
* Experience in curriculum development within the last 5 years, as evidenced in application materials.
* Valid Kansas driver's license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
* Doctorate's degree from an institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission or currently enrolled in graduate level program.
* 5 years' experience in the coordination of basic law enforcement training or continuing education law enforcement training programs.
* 5 years' experience in the development of curriculum for law enforcement training programs.
* Experience working within a complex framework of credit program development from conception to final approval, ensuring compliance developing new academic programs that are compliant with governing board policies, accreditation requirements, and KU procedures, as evidenced in application materials.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collegial team of higher education staff and administration, as evidenced in application materials.
* Effective written communication skills as evident in application materials.
Position Requirements
Position may require occasional travel to other sites off the Hutchinson Campus.
