The Hiatt Career Center at Brandeis University seeks an innovative and entrepreneurial professional for a newly created role that integrates career counseling and external relations, with a specialized focus on
business, consulting, and finance. As a member of both the career and external engagement teams, this role is essential in building connections between career development and employer/alumni engagement.This position involves working directly with all students and alumni, with a particular focus on those pursuing careers in
business, consulting, and finance. You will also cultivate partnerships with employers, alumni, and industry professionals in these fields, helping to create pathways to high-quality professional opportunities. Key Responsibilities:Career Development - Provide career counseling to all students and alumni with focus on those interested in business, consulting, and finance.
- Guide students through career exploration, self-assessment, goal setting, and internship/job search strategies.
- Stay informed on industry-specific labor market trends, recruiting practices, and career resources to offer tailored strategies and techniques.
Campus Engagement - Collaborate with departments and offices across campus to create programming and resources tailored to students pursuing careers in business, consulting, and finance.
- Develop and deliver workshops, events, and presentations that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in these fields.
Employer & External Relations- Build and manage relationships with employers in the business, consulting, and finance industries, as well as alumni and volunteers.
- Develop strategic initiatives to connect students with external partners for networking, recruiting, and professional development.
- Support the external relations team in organizing employer events, maintaining key data for decision-making, and enhancing engagement strategies.
Work EnvironmentBrandeis is a liberal arts college within a research university, offering a tight-knit, collaborative community. Hiatt Career Center staff work 35 hours/week with a hybrid work model, allowing for flexible scheduling. Some early morning or evening hours may be required for events or special initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:- A Master's degree with 1-3 years of experience in higher education, career services, human resources, recruiting, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of working with diverse student populations.
- Experience or knowledge of the business, consulting, and finance industries is a plus.
