Job DescriptionThe Assistant Director will support the comprehensive case management for all students as well as those referred to the CARE Team. The Assistant Director will maintain knowledge of local providers while overseeing electronic and internal referral resources. This individual will also assist in the provision of outreach and educational programming opportunities to the students and the campus community.The Assistant Director will assist with the oversight of the wellness ambassador program and aim to strengthen the strong values the College places on peer support and student involvement in elevating the importance of mental health and wellness in the campus community.ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supports Director in outreach efforts for CARE Team referrals.
  • Assists students with psycho-social needs, including but not limited to referral to campus or community resources such as mental health care, hospitalizations, and/or other specialty care (substance abuse treatment, in patient care for eating disorders, partial hospitalization, etc.) in a timely, effective, safe, and empathetic manner.
  • Assists with administrative functions for CARE Team, including use of Maxient© electronic records system and taking notes at meetings.
  • Provides follow up and documentation to ensure that students are appropriately assessed; successfully referred; and monitored for compliance with treatment recommendations.
  • Provides direct crisis intervention and advocacy services to students.
  • Assists in providing trainings to faculty and staff on the CARE Team and how to deal with students in distress.
  • Assists in providing consultation to students, faculty, staff, administration, parents and community members.
  • Additional duties include documenting e-mail outreach attempts, compiling any pertinent information regarding the CARE reports, and completing CARE assessment forms in a confidential manner.
  • Supports the Health & Wellness department by providing outreach and educational programs to students, faculty and staff, including but not limited to psycho-education, passive campaigns, and topical outreach as needed under the direction and support of the Director and Dean of Health and Wellness.
  • Manages collaborations and serve as a liaison between other offices, departments, student groups, and external organizations to seamlessly bring high quality, wellness programming and activities to campus alongside a team of committed staff and students.
  • Provides wellness coaching to students to address non-clinical concerns thereby assisting them in navigating their college experience.
  • Assists in oversight of the implementation of the Vector Solutions on line training for students with regard to AlcoholEdu and Prescription drug abuse prevention student training modules
  • Utilizes relative, evidence-based approaches to coordinate prevention and outreach events designed to improve student health and well-being and harm reduction.
  • Conducts student staff trainings for Wellness Ambassadors, Resident
  • Advisors, and other groups.
  • Oversees the social media for the Health & Wellness Department.
  • Serves on committees as assigned.
QualificationsMINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of higher education administration, counseling or related field. Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years working in higher education setting preferred.
  • Experience in working with outreach, education, and marketing platforms such as Canva and Instagram, etc. Experience in working with electronic records such as Maxient©.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time and occasionally walking and standing.
  • Climbing, walking, crouching, repetitive motions, and ability to communicate appropriately with students/colleagues.
