Assistant Director Location: Discovery Point SilverthornCenter Hours: 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday through FridayPosition: Full-Time (40+ hours per week)Position Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday through FridayDiscovery Point Silverthorn is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director to join our management team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for children. You will assist in the daily operations of our accredited child development center, ensuring excellence in staff management, enrollment growth, parent communication, and cost management.As an Assistant Director, you will collaborate closely with the Director and Associate Director to ensure the smooth and effective operation of our fully APPLE accredited center. Serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years old, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care and education. Your responsibilities will include managing staff, curriculum, meeting enrollment targets, and ensuring compliance with company policies, licensing requirements, food program standards, and accreditation criteria.Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Maintain seamless center operations in the absence of the Director, effectively managing staff and ensuring continuity of high-quality care and education.
- Program Quality: Support and implement curriculum to maintain the integrity and quality of our educational program.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor financial statements, enrollment data, and personnel reports to manage costs and ensure financial stability.
- Community Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and the community to build strong relationships and address concerns.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and best practices.
- Staff Development: Recruit, train, and develop staff, create work schedules, and evaluate performance.
- Safety and Environment: Conduct regular walk-throughs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
- Marketing and Enrollment: Actively promote the center to attract new families and retain current ones.
- Charitable Involvement: Support and encourage participation in various charitable initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-3 years in a management role within a licensed, curriculum-based childcare facility (Director, Assistant Director, Associate Director, Key Holder).
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, and motivate, a cohesive team.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Extensive understanding of early childhood education and relevant curriculum.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with childcare licensing rules, Procare software, ELC School Readiness and VPK Reporting, and DCF Gold Seal Standards.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to clear and direct communication.
- Certification: Florida State Director Credential with VPK endorsement required. CPR/Fire Safety certification, and Food Handler Safety Training are also required.
- Education: Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with ELC School Readiness, VPK programs, and APPLE Accreditation.
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL): Preferred but not required.
