Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) will be an integral member of a collaborative CFR team which is part of Michigan Medicine?s Office of Development. Together, we facilitate partnerships with local, regional, national and international businesses and foundations. With a solid team in place, we now seek a new member who is experienced in project management and has an interest in philanthropy or corporate partnerships. Our new colleague will play a central role in advancing our CFR communications internally and externally.

We hope to find a candidate with project management experience although this position will play a critical role in fundraising as well. With comprehensive support from our team, our ultimate goal is for this individual to be able to effectively manage a portfolio and increase philanthropic giving from corporations and foundations.

We anticipate that candidates for this Assistant Director position will have several years of experience working in the non-profit sector in such departments as communications, operations, fundraising, or grants management. The position calls for initiative taking, intellectual curiosity, superior organizational skills, and political savvy.

What You'll Do

? Project manage initiatives that advance corporate and foundation relations.

? Conduct and oversee research to inform Michigan Medicine?s faculty and improve the team?s understanding of corporations and foundations.

? Collaborate with University of Michigan?s Central Development Corporate and Foundation Relations team.

? Support RFP circulation among departments, development colleagues and faculty.

? Stay current on industry trends, best practices for research and emerging opportunities for CFR.

? Manage a portfolio of 15-25 foundations and corporations.

Required Qualifications*

? Bachelor?s degree.

? At least 3 years of working in the non-profit sector in such departments as communications, operations, fundraising, or grants management.

? Meaningful experience serving as a project manager in a complex work environment.

? Excellent communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills.

? Demonstrated problem solving skills and comfort managing up.

? Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive requests.

? The capability to thrive in a complex matrix environment with finesse, tact, and an appreciation for differences among stakeholders and colleagues.

? A capacity to analyze data.

Desired Qualifications*

? Either CFR or grants management experience.

? Familiarity with how development teams function.

? Experience working in higher education or within a complex healthcare environment.

? Ability to apply research tools to understand the giving history of a corporation or foundation.

Work Locations

The onsite location for this position is an office suite at the 777 Building. This provides free, on-site parking for staff.

You will be in a flexible, hybrid position. You will need to live in a commutable distance to the office with the expectation of working in the office 3 days a week, except while traveling on university business. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on our needs.
