Summary of Duties:

The Assistant Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion assists the strategic efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and provides guidance for the implementation of these efforts throughout the College. This position is responsible for advancing equality, and impact for the college and those it serves; creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff; and will be the assistant to the senior leader who guides and implements this work. This position will identify strategic ways to incorporate DEI in the college culture and climate. The Assistant Director will help to create and sustain equitable opportunities through holistic practices and policies for all members of our college: students, staff, faculty, and alumni. The Assistant Director will expand the outreach efforts of Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine to local and distant underserved societies, including but not limited to reservations and rural communities. The position is expected to work in collaboration with key community members at Washington State University, in the state of Washington as a whole and other accredited Colleges of Veterinary Medicine.

Required Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

* Two years of relevant experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion, including designing and delivering DEI content and experiences.

* Demonstrated success in collaboration with others to achieve solutions, resolve issues, and overcome hurdles.

* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

* Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in a related field.

* Experience working in a higher education environment.

* Experience in veterinary, medical and/or scientific fields, which may include experience in medical or veterinary medical education.

* Demonstrated leadership experience.

* Experience in program assessment, reporting, and evaluation.

* Demonstrated organizational skills.

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
