Position Title Assistant Director for Plant Operations Job Type Staff Position Information
The Department of Physical Plant invites resumes for a full-time, exempt, position with full benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Reporting to the Director of Physical Plant, the Assistant Director will assist with the day to day operations and management of the physical plant to include building, grounds, and maintenance, parking and transportation operations. Assist with implementing effective operations and maintenance programs related to the university services (HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical, walkways, etc.).
Responsibilities
* Assign and monitor tasks given to supervisors.
* Coordinate and organize work flow of information from university community to physical plant for services. Assist director with planning and budget expenditures.
* Oversee physical plant maintenance by reporting issues promptly.
* Arrange for needed repairs.
* Maintains a liaison with outside contractors.
* Provide ongoing documented supervision, training and professional development of staff.
* Participate in policy. Develop and ensure that program staff adhere to agency and policy and procedures.
* Participate in preparation of program budgets and monitor program expenditures in accordance with university policies.
* Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards.
* Perform other work related duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Classification 11-0000 Management Occupations Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree.
* Three to five years of experience in facility administration, safety, maintenance, operations and staff supervision.
* Must have computer proficiency and long-range planning development skills.
* Valid driver's license.
* Must be skilled in understanding preventative maintenance as well as a general understanding of Climate Control, Electrical components, Plumbing Components, budget adherence and financial control.
Preferred Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of individuals.
* Ability to get along with others required.
* Demonstrated ability to work as a team member; to lead, manage and problem solve in a large organization with a diverse staff.
* Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations and policies and procedures and to manage university policy development.
* Thorough knowledge of building trades.
* Knowledge of maintenance and energy management systems
